Overall looking good, some of the scratches seem a little random though(not gained through use)i would consider thinking about how these items, but that's the only thing i see
I think it need more things\items to compose the scene, like junk and fungi, and specially a LOT of dirt on textures. Dust too, around the lights to give the feeling of stagnant air.
Newer stuff will always be better but the basic concepts should be the same. The buttons might not look the same or menu items might not be in the right place in UDK, but the ideas and information should be mostly applicable.
I can't make any suggestions for AO in Blender, but might I suggest simply copying a VMT from an existing item in the game? I've done it and it's worked out pretty well.

Add your geom - make sure your geom is selected - click MTL <No Custom Material> Then hit the file icon with the plus sign in the material window (add new item) Done !
Well then i guess it really depends on your drop rate now In Demons souls you got special items no matter what now they want you to grind and raise for yours.
I am on Reallusion content store, double checking I have all the items I need for my movie set.... Pretty easy to switch back and forth... Esp in 3DExchange6
