RGBM encoding would be a nice feature I'm sure a lot of people would love to have. Encoding to RGBM and storing the info in a RGBA8888 .TGA file is nice, especially when your app doesn't support R32 float textures.
Provided answers above, but I think I will simply go with a box instead of plane as others suggested. Although, since it is supposed to be a floating island, I guess the issue will go away once I add underside to it. Thanks for suggestions!
Ref HP I've missed a few screws I still need to float and I still have to go back and rework/refine the handle and a number of the edges need loosening, but I figured its done enough to pimp a bit.
Maybe the poly mode in edit poly is selected thus unwrap is using only one polygon. Check it, it should be unselected before applying unwrap. Also, pelt may not work properly if you have floating/detached polygons or elements.
I feel like the meteors are in a different style than the ships and floating stuff. I would love to see the rocks be more of that hand painted style with large blockings of color. It would make it feel much more consistent as well.
they got 2 way to achieve this in modeling, 1 is floating geometry which more easier to work second way is planing out your poly flow which take alot of poly and alot of time i prefer the 1st one
personally I'd prefer a free floating camera that you could move with WASD and starting out positioned above the flock, this is hard to watch and just seems like a clustercuss of movement, although it is possible to tell that it is a flock, well done though.
The new floating bridge will help with traffic a bit, that is if it doesn't sink first... Since here seems to be a few more of you guys showing up in town maybe we should do a meet up once everyone gets settled?
I just use the animation method. Works fine. Depending upon what I bake, I do multiple passes and combine them, but it's to save time. Otherwise trying to bake with floating stuff causes issues and wastes time.
a few alien sketches I had floating around colecting dust, Scanned them in and lined them up. I use a technical pencil on normal printing paper if anyone wonders (never used anything else outside the computer)
