I know a few character artist who make use of the samsung slate with the built in wacom digitizer. They have used it for photoshop and zbrush...while it wont replace a desktop by any means, it allows them to knock out enough work to be usable when on the road or even in workshops. Asus is releasing one as well in 2013 that…
Yeah I asked this same question of live-workshop. I didn't have an understanding of how the UV's transfered, you can lower the definition just fine and the maps transfer as long as you maintain your islands so he suggested building the LOD0 then lowering down to LOD1. Learn something new, but glad to hear other…
ill give blender ago I only want the models as a size reference so I can make stuff for the workshop got some awesome ideas and this was my only hurdle to start modeling thanks passerby also Paradan I already did that with notepad+ thats how I got to this stage :D but thanks man =D
Yes it's going to be very difficult. I studied a bit on the side while at uni and I imagine it can be very demanding with uni work and deadlines. I graduated in 2013 and I'm still in the hunt for my first gig. I had to take online workshops after graduation while working a part-time job to really understand animation.
about half of these are outlets for QA and or customer support or corperate not devs, also some of them Black rock off the top of my head have been closed for years. 40 active AAA studios would be a pipe dream dude. also the uk listing on wiki has games workshop on there so that list isnt even exclusively videogames.
Gnomon Workshop as probably some of the best DVD's on character animation. Eat3D has a DVD on facial animation for games. Digital Tutors cover alot of the basic and fundamentals. Animation Mentor supposed to be really good and pricey! Art of Rigging books seem to be well respected as well. Maybe someone who's in animating…
I can suggest few tutorials till you find mentor : The Art of Rigging its old but cover everything you need to know about rigging and mel coding + a lot of scripts you can learn from CGcircuit - The Base Skeleton /CGcircuit - Biped Skinning Gnomon Character Rigging Axel/The Gnomon Workshop - Creature Rigging for Production
Yupp I agree as well. If you are trying to improve make sure you don't lose sight of those basic art fundamentals. Contrast is super important in any design, so make sure you balance out the detail with areas of rest. Here is example of the front page of the forums: http://polycount.com/discussion/141313/character-workshop
[ QUOTE ] Woah. I would love to have that, but i downloaded the demo thing, and the interface was kind of...what the hell? For me. [/ QUOTE ] the interface confused the hell out of me but I took a leap of faith and picked up Zbrush 2 along with the Introduction to ZBrush DVD from the Gnomon Workshop, it is a great DVD and…
I use smoothing groups as a reference for a turbosmooth modifier, which I multiply by 3, then I add another turbosmooth modifier over the other with the default settings, with 2 iterations, which smooths out the sharper edges. Learned it from Racer :) check his tuts or download that sniper rifle of his in the workshop…
