Depends on the way they're written, but yes, they are usually for forever. Often the way I've seen this handled is for the artist to password-protect a folder, and share that with specific people. Yes, you can change the "Alt Brush" size (defaults to 2 for some reason), it's in the "Brush" menu - look for Alt Size or something, set it to 1. Also, the tiny thumbnails on the 3rd layer are far too small. On modern displays, I'd set 256 as the MINIMUM size for a thumbnail. The tesselation on the clock seems exceptionally odd. I can't tell why you have vertical edges running across the face. Making the hands out of polygons also seems an odd choice - I suppose…
