Last update before progress might begin to crawl after the holidays. Spent a lot of my time recently looking into how to do hair correctly along with a lot of trial an error. I think I've figured out placement but still playing around with XGen to get good looking textures. Mind the missing central strip of hair, was meant…
Hey Alemja, nice start with the hair work. I've been eyeing that HairTG tool, what are your thoughts on it? I'm using Xgen to generate textures atm, but it'd be nice to build all the maps at once without the hassle of xgen I'd love to see your diffuse texture sheet! You've got some good break up going on, I believe the…
Háu kola! Allow me to introduce my latest character, The American. She was sculpted with Zbrush and retopo was done in Maya with Quad Draw. Texturing.xyz was used for the skin details and texture projection using Mudbox. Xgen was used to generate the hairs and Arnold for rendering. Breakdown images are on my Artstation…
HI guys, When importing my groom from Maya, it comes flipped on the X. If I change the scale to -X it does not render correctly. I am setting the rotation values to 90,180,0 has any one experience this before? or have ideas on how to trouble shoot?
Cleopatra CG Character. Cleopatra is a personal project. Design was artistically developed without any claim to historical truth. For sculpting I used ZBrush, for hairs Maya xgen interactive grooming tools. For rendering Arnold. More on Artstation: https://www.artstation.com/artwork/3oRw4J Follow me also on…
Really nice likeness man, nice work. Did you follow any specific tutorials for the skin rendering itself? I've done the Tom Newbury rendering tutorial in Arnold and Xgen but I still get some problems when it comes to the SSS etc.
Hey guys I've just made a tutorial for xgen, going through the process of using the modifiers to create realistic hair, I've skipped the guide curves as thats been covered in various other tutorials. Here's the link - https://gumroad.com/joshmjc Thanks, Josh
Loads of plugins and info on yt. Making hair is a bit fiddly. Some of the plugs: xgen, ornatrix, hair tool. Im using Hair Tool for Blender atm and its really very good. I'm also going to have to put it in UE4. There are loads of vids on that.
Little update on what I have been working on this project lately. Got hair cards and strand designs done. Used XGen for the strand design and used curves and a few maya plugins for placing hair cards individually. I also created a hair cap and baked XGen hair to the cap using XNormals. I am still in the process of learning…
This was a speed sculpt that turned into a full blown likeness portrait. It was also an opportunity for me to really dive deep into xGen and get some experience making wavy hair, as well as familiarize myself more with Arnold since I mostly work with real-time rendering. https://www.artstation.com/artwork/9Nqo4o
