Conrad, you definitely missed sketch part. You just can't imagine the face of your creature in details, that's why it looks like a mess. Try to use some references.
I think its looks a little to hard edged in places for it to be an underwater creature. It also looks very dry. But other than that, you have an awesome piece right their :D
Here's a base mesh of the creature my character will ride. I'm not sure where the idea for this came from but I see it as a support character. Click here to see wip thread
The concept is by Beloved Creature on deviant art here: http://beloved-creature.deviantart.com/gallery/#/d12y7jf Here's my final textures + wires, and a turntable >>>Here: http://curtbinder.com/themockturtle/themockturtle.html
@Jeremy, cheers something a bit more constructive! and to be fair demons/creatures are fiction, who knows how close it could be to human anatomy... But I'll take it as a learning curve anyway
Oh, man, that concept art. Is it just me or does the style in some of the creatures really feel like Mike Mignola? By no means a bad thing, I love Mike Mignola.
yeah, definately a good exercise. when i have the time, i'll do more work on it, make it an actual living creature, add some more spikes and armor/saddle.
excellent work, I particularly like the texture on the creature, the weapons look pretty flat but I reckon they are pretty small and I assume they look great in the game engine anyway.
got the The creatures of Farscape book? pretty good. I hope they don't fuck the show over.. .it came to a pretty conclusive point when it finished with the Peacekeeper wars.. interesting though
