Hey, do your normal maps bake out with very slight noise? I baked to a .TGA (I checked in photoshop, it's mode is 8-bits per pixel) on the highest quality Hammersley MS and Mitchell-Natreveli AA and it's a bit noisy. A little more progress for the Beast contest. Decided to change it up quite a bit. I felt giving it more of a face, even if it's hammerhead-ish would help bring a little more empathy to his backstory. I will be adding barnacles and starfish to his back as well as texturing everything after I finish up the anatomy.
Have you tried baking Final Gather for that? even with 5-7 bounces its still faster than light tracer. It lacks the fine detail, but you can get that back with a cavity map.
