The minolta 50mm 1.7 is the first lens you should buy, you can pick up a used copy for $75-100 on ebay. This lens is sharp from about F2-5.6 or so whereas teh kit zoom is sharp from about F5.6-F8 or so, which in use means you can use the 50mm in a wide variety of lighting conditions. Its so cheap that it just makes a lot…
Had that happen in my Jeep once going up a pretty significant hill, except it didn't quite snap cleanly. Part of it shredded along the length and there was a long, rubber string hanging off that started going WHAPWHAPWHAPWHAPWHAP against the hood at 2200 rpm. Yeah, that was fun.
I see what you mean, sometimes though, I observe this fogging depends on the time of day. not really sure. Could be the background looking really lowres and flat thats contributing to the lack of massiveness on the statue. :D Yes I'm thinking of adding birds but I'm not sure what kind to put there. I was planning on…
Always bothered me about stealthy guys wearing pure black :) black clothes create harsh outlines in moonlight and firelight and against darker areas. Nothing is pure black at night in even a dark room, various tones of dark grey allow you to blend much better into the background surfaces.…
13 mb .gif incoming! https://dl.dropbox.com/u/220214/Screens/CP360.gif Hopefully I'll free up some time to sit down and make some corrections here pretty soon. The more I look at the normal error on the cylinder, the more it bugs me... so I might crack it open and redo that too. But first I'll get the AO on the small…
Looking good bart! It might be the wireframes making it a bit noisy, but I can't really see any definition in the bark. I would expect a tree like that to have some lovely looking cracks. Or, if it is more of a smoothBark tree, perhaps some nice sharp creases etc. e.g. http://www.flickr.com/photos/22522979@N02/3708246875/
QuadDraw looks very practical to work, I will look at topogun and 3D coat too - and I will get one to work next month, I realized that my mesh don't look so good in the way that I model the low poly, the normal map have parts that are always strange...so lets try the retopo to correct that @Busterizer I was doing the same…

I tried to replicate it just now, but I cant even get the input window up. I've got a feeling the project somehow got corrupted. When I try with a blank project everything works fine. However this gets me worried, as you can image, that whatever I work on can get corrupted at any time.…
