Alright, here is the weekends progress. I more or less finished up a brick archway. There is still a little tweaking when it comes to the Spec map, but otherwise its pretty much finished unless there is something glaring that I missed. As always, I look forward to feedback and criticism.
Why so many poly especially on the roofs ? Or for each brick around the corners ? Also, is this for like RTS game where each building is like 1 inch tall, and RPG where building is like half a screen, or a FPS where building is super close to player's face ?
Yeah, your right and i thought so to. The damage wouldn't happen like that. But it would look so god damn boring without any damage. Tough it might be the wrong kinda damage. I'm planing of doing all the cracks with photo sourcing.. A close up on the bricks.
pretty interesting, I'm messing with it now. It seems he developed it in max 2011, it's very buggy in 2009. It's an encrypted MAXscript so there's no way to tweak it to fix errors. Also kind of wish the brick generator would lay things out so the maps you bake tiled.
That pile of stone/brick is way too hi poly. I would just make it one single mesh for the pile and outline it. The bags on the back of the cart look a little high too. Other than what others have said, you're looking pretty good otherwise :)
very nice work Xoliul. I've always been interested in doing a bridge like that after playing through gta4, just never got around to it. What I love about it is that the tile-ing is not as obvious or noticeable as lets say a brick wall or some ground texture.
Solid stuff. I would mention the weird reflection on the left side bricks but i think its still WIP so maybe it will go away after the final build. Keep at it. PS: good thing that you didnt go in that direction... ;) . It was a bit too sinister.
I think some non sci-fi looking stuff will help. Rocks and trees ? Walls and columns and corridors perhaps ? Or something made of out bricks and stones like altars and fountains and wells and what not ? You know, something made by human hands, but not factory-made.
I think that it's a bit too dark to really understand what is going on. The first thing i can tell you tho, is that these blue lights are really killing the mood and the scene. On the corner of the fireplace you can clearly spot a seam and the bricks looks rather flat.
I would try to fake more depth with this. Think of a bevel around the edges of the bricks. That will help a lot. Also the crack angle like Jessica suggests. The cracks are not as random and shaky as actual cracks. Somewhere between lightning strikes and your cracks are where I'd shoot for.
