no normal map applied you see, the arm and the leg that should be behind the body are visible. i found a way around the problem in unity, nonetheless it doesnt actually fix it. i want a toon shader with alpha cutoff, but since it doesnt exist in unity, i applied two seperate materials in max and imported them into unity. -

unfortunately not fmnoor :( ....Apparently windows phone doesn't support Unity. Unless we remake the entire game outside of Unity or Unity has support on Windows phone I don't think it'll happen :( . It's something I'd really want seeing as how windows phone has a smaller game store, but I'm not sure it'll happen -

Unity gives you the option to use either spec/gloss or metal/rough(well, smooth anyway). I remember at one point Aras at Unity posted on their forums that spec/gloss was more correct but metal/rough was faster. I don't know how true that holds in all cases, but it's probably safe to assume it's true in Unity. -

Why not bake lightmaps in Unity? The Unity baker is very good. If you want to avoid that, attach all your meshes together into a single model in Max, then add a UVW Unwrap modifier, set it to UV channel 2, create the lightmap UVs (using Flatten or similar), and bake the AO to a map. But the Unity baker is much much easier. -

In Unity a smoothing group edge is a split seam, because it has to normalize the vertex count between verts, normals and UVs. So even in Max or Maya list the UV as an island Unity will still register a split seam there. Hardsurface Assault Helmet
Hey there. So I threw in a quick a hardsurface mask, baked to lowpoly and imported it into Unity. The mesh is mirrored from the middle I notice that the seams on the central vertical axis of the mask appear funny. Is there any way to stop the normals to act wierd in Unity ?
