Something like this could be a bit of both. I'd say there is definitely a bake going on, but any surface detail (like grooves on the roof, tire treads, vents etc...) could be very quickly added in using nDo or something similar
Really nice scene, shaping up quickly! I have to second @rohMizuno . The lighting also feels off to me, but its something you can always look at down the line :) Looking forward to see where this is going!
In Max I place boxes at the shoe lace holes and then use soulburns wirejumbler script to create a spline that goes through all of them quickly. You can use a torus knot to fake circular lace ties also.
Could you imagine though if a cure WAS discovered? If you assume it only "reverts" the dead tissue back, and can't regenerate tissue (or body parts) there would be a huge number of people who would quickly wish they were dead. :/
Why are you ignoring the plethora of sources that I've posted? The point is, is that the only way that this amount of data could've been taken so quickly would be because someone was able to access the internal network of Sony in close physical proximity.

You can set the sorting order inside the properties of your objects. I solved a similar problem with a skybox and some particles this way. [EDIT] oops, sorry, I read too quickly, Hourences already said it. :x

Tried some polypaint on the fox wizard but quickly realized how inflexible zbrush is in that regard. Will probably try my hand at 3D coat for this piece. And some update on the progress of the gal. Changed the hairstyle and added some quick clothes.
I think Eric is right, iteration is key. Often you'll find there isn't one answer or one way to do something, but a framework that will help you iterate quickly so you can get to the best possible combination.
