@Doomathon Yeah I'll give it its own UV space because its opacity masked. It's kind of like a decal though, just a floating plane on the normal mapped gauge area. It has a normal map for the cracks
are these really floaters like separate objects/panels floating above the base geo? Because they look like insets cut into your main geometry. http://wiki.polycount.com/SubdivisionSurfaceModeling?action=AttachFile&do=view&target=subd_floatingpanelinglines.jpg
I use a 21UX with an arm and yeah.. it wobbles a little, but nothing I couldn't get used to. Though I don't really rest my arm on it, mainly float, but can put a little pressure on it without issue.
for some reason the missing jaw seems to throw the character off for me. Seems like the head is just floating there. I would also dbl check your proportions. The arms seem like they aren't long enough
Theres an image floating around of what they patented... its a modular controller with interchangable buttons and joysticks. Perhaps thats what it involves? See: http://tbreak.com/megamers/wp-content/5/files/original-8.jpg
Looks cool mate ! One thing though - I would have used floating geometry (in case you want to bake this on a low poly, instead of actually modelling tiny holes, especially on the cylindrical part. Cheers !
It can be a bunch of "ribbons" floating over the head, doesn't need to be solid like that! If you put enough of them, the hair will have volume and look good. Like this: (found on http://www.polycount.com/forum/showthread.php?t=87907)
Ah makes more sense now :) Even though it took me like 6 times to get up the stairs without falling off the side. Weird i dont remember the floating robot hands :P
Since my apps are usually full screen, I have a notebook. Then eventually I remember what it is (key commands, workflows). I do not like apps floating above my DCC apps. Or post-its.
Its basically a touch menu system with short cuts and hotkeys that floats on the side of the screen, yet manages to get out of the way when you actually begin to draw/model/sculpt. Essentially it diminishes the need for a keyboard.
