I use it for quickly previewing normals when I don't care about the tangents. I believe rendermap can be used to bake the tangents of a model into its vertex colors, which could probably be used in this instance as well.
Whether someone knows how to texture comes through pretty clearly whether they're using dDo or not. If you can't texture well, all dDo will generally let you do is create bad textures more quickly.
I almost play the Starcraft games solely for the cinematics, not bashing any of its design or gameplay mechanics, I just want to see the cinematics in context as quickly as I can. ....also Im pretty bad at RTS games
The way I see it, is an excuse to explore other forms of workflows and experiment quickly with techniques you aren't familiar with in everyday 3d. Also it's a way for people to connect together. That's one reason I think the rock thread exploded.
thanks for trying it out! I'm figuring it out in maya but untill i add a way to do it for other programs you can send it to me, I can import it into 3Ds MAX and export it for you quickly if you'd like.
Yea that makes sense but why just grab the handle and slam the door open. Why not apply some of the same care they applied to opening the trunk? It was opening the door quickly that alerted the zombies... oh well hindsight I guess.
very doubtful it's marketing. Would not of yanked it so quickly, and the quality on the youtube link is quite poor. probably just a simple blunder by a worker. Few of these leaks have happened in the past to many companies through careless linkin updates.
i didnt know about this technique, can you post some link to some tutorial for this? And how do yoi create your low poly mesh to be able to do it all quickly? multired modifier in 3ds max?
Edge padding, I assume. It'll mip out rather quickly.. (though you are fairly close) Try looking at your albedo texture and use the mip bias preview slider to preview your texture when mipmapped.
Is that Doom? if yes, don't they use mega textures? That means dynamic mip mapping, everything around gets quickly mipped, leaving you enough material resolution for that door... I could be wrong, but that's what sounds like to me.
