Looking nice, noticed you named her Arachne, at no point was the actual Arachne a half spider/half human creature, just a little spider. Still looks cool, please next do Atalanta if you plan to stay on the topic of greek female characters. :D -

It's nice to see that you are doing thumbnails. I am slightly confused by what's going on in the image with the person next to the spider web. Are those hands or spider legs? You might want to define the shape's base a little better. I like your concept of the gorilla with tree branches and roots as limbs. -
Earthquake
The Northridge one (1-17-94) was my favorite. it rocked and only left a crack in the dining room ceiling. no other damage, however it did somehow left in a pathway for lots of large spiders to come in and infest the downstairs bathroom, so we were stuck with spiders for the rest of the time in that house what's your… -

Very strong work here. Great job. The upcoming refinements you mentioned will add a lot. I especially like the cobwebs they sit well within the scene in terms of lighting. If anything I would expect more spider webs up high than down low given spiders preference for higher areas. -

If you could wear out he edges on the spider tank, would really make it look like a tank...it looks more like a 'bot as bots tend to be clean and tanks tend to be in use more often. It's real nice though. The only other type of spider tank I saw before was the Harvester from Quake 4. -

In my opinion the Witch Doctor staff has too many joints to be recognized as a spider limb. I think it would be better to turn it into several broken off limbs that are strapped together if you really want to go for that theme. Plus right now it looks as the spider limb has two foot ends, which is a bit odd.
