I tried it on a decimated creature and it did a decent job. Sometimes its doing really good retopo on hardsurface meshes. Have todo more tests. -

biggest problem with creature is hips. they look nonfunctional and come at an awkward intersection with torso. i'd mess with it a bit. more along the lines of "A" or "C" of your drawings there -

This is a Camel-Chameleon creature I designed for a hybrid animal project! The model was sculpted in ZBrush, textured in Substance Painter, and rendered out with Marmoset Tool Bag.
