Finished more pillars and placed them around the scene. Now i will focus on finishing the main structure, making high poly version of the obelisks, work on the river/lake, fog, floating debris and the foliage
ok. i dont think i will keep it a flat plane, but i may do some topo so i can make it work a bit better (ive gotten other responses that the "flat plane" shape it has looks too flat and i should adjust some verts. i dunno, ill see what i can do. rather than having an entirely flat plane as you suggested, i can cut into it…
Substance Painter does what you want if I understand correctly: Painting and blending height data while handling specular and any other channel at the same time, with by default floating point precision.
Yeah, I ended up doing this - there were about 25 fish kind of floating around at different depths setting up any kind of simulation would of taken longer than doing it by hand.
As a huge fan of the Mirrors Edge style I think you've done a great job capturing it. I would add some sort of trim to the bottom of the supports as it looks like they're floating on the floor.
You could also probably solve it with raycast blockers. Whatever floats your boat, really. Exploding is more applicable to baking applications in general so you should definitely know how to do it.
On thing that I've noticed on several shots is how the railway sleepers appear to be floating on the gravel surface. They are actually embedded in this ballast, often only the top inch or so is visible. Picture, 1000 words etc:
working on materials and getting the look of them to work inside of unreal... this week I'm working on cords and other things to make sure none of my main placed objects are just floating around in space
I think you did a great job capturing the atmosphere you wanted. There is a bit of geo floating on its on on the top right of the portal though that looks a bit odd. Can't wait to see more :)
Even Maya's got a universal manipulator. O_o I vaguely remember that Max's manipulator isn't as exposed as the rest of the software, which would explain why there aren't any gizmo plugins floating around.
