You are subdividing your creature way too quickly and getting in to detail when you should be focusing on major shapes. Its face looks like a sloppy pile of pancakes. Your first concept also looked like a 90% rip from Cho'gath from League of Legends, glad you changed it. Keep it up.
here´s an example of normal map and handpainted diffuse I did for Freaky Creatures game http://hugobeyer.carbonmade.com/projects/2080563#3 check the next image in a way you can see the diffuse one with other handpainted textures, I also used crazybump after making these to create my nmaps. I hope it helps.
Concept: In the concept, draw in something to represent the scale/size of the character. I wouldn't have known to think of him as a "giant" without having read the bit of info you posted about the creature. Texture: Some color variation can go a long way. Perhaps try bouncing some green glow/light off the body.
Sketch is great! The focus is clear and the dichotomy between human and creature is well balanced. IMHO. But the colorized version loses a lot of the clarity, because the contrast is too evenly distributed. The diver's legs, the seaweed fronds, and the pipe/chain pull attention away from the two figures. Use a strong…
Thanks KatArt! But he's not a chicken, he's a tengu, a mythical Japanese bird creature :D Thought I would post a shot of the rig as well. I'll be moving on to animations soon. Quick question, is there a minimum/maximum number of frames an animation has to be? It looks like the spawn should be no more than 30 but what about…
yeah it looks like every other MMO out there. Orks and Dwarves. FFS it would be nice if someone had an original idea every once in a while, maybe an Arcanum themed MMO? That has yet to be done. But talk about beating a dead horse. Why did'nt they just use 40K? Tons of original races/creatures there.
I appreciate the creature designs. The variance from serious/menacing to playful shows a strong range within that segment. What I feel like is immediately missing is some sense of character related prop work. You have some on Skeech, but I'd like more. Items that prove your hard surface design, etc.
@Buchananball Thanks! Yeah it needs something. The idea for the chest was more DnD mindflayer though and not Sea creature. I'ma think about it though. @Blade113 Thanks! I did a quick sketch.. When i do stuff for myself sometimes i like to do little thumbnails. You can see it below. It's not too pretty ;P
I've always thought that dragons (and a lot of fantasy flying beasts in general) don't have enough of a projecting sternum bone, to attach the massive pectoral muscles needed to get those wings flapping properly. I think it's called a 'keel' like on a boat. Of course all these creatures are make-believe, so, meh. Just a…
youve got lke 5 diferent colour schemes ona creature which shouldnt have that many... i know its infected but like maybe you could add some infected areas or more than just "LOL LUTS OF BLOOD AT FRONT MENZ affected"... maybe you could add something like this going on
