I know it's a little dated, and I'm not sure what the users here think of it (I just signed up, hello everybody) but the Joan of Arc tutorial will take you through some good steps in developing the body. http://www.3dtotal.com/ffa/tutorials/max/joanofarc/body3.php
Current buggy volume shader is: One alternative if I stick to spherical shapes is to outright define the arc of fire in the shader itself, find the world position of the pixel being rendered and check if it is within the volume or not, though that would potentially be a touch expensive and limit the potential shapes we…
iirc if you're still a student you get a new 3 year license for the new version of Maya. So if you upgrade every year and you stop being a student, you'll have a student version of Maya that lasts for about 3 years after you stopped being a student.
A more streamlined front-end wouldn't hurt either. IIRC it felt clunky. As well, I wouldn't mind a more consistent art style from the characters to the environments. The characters and how they were rendered was badass where-as the world sort of fell flat, IMO. Would nice if it was unified somewhat.
BFF did work great, but has gathered a bit of dust since then. Another way would be to save the source Max file, then create a Container or Xref in the target scene. Everytime you save the source, the target Container would be updated. If Xref, IIRC you have to manually refresh the target .
I want spoken Greek with English subtitles dammit! I was honestly just being silly. It wont irk me nearly as much as Jude Law sounding like an east end cockney chimney sweep whilst portraying a Russian sniper from the Urals. Chomping at the bit to see the film.
I didn't know Fat man looked that cool, I thought I remembered it as being awfully bland looking irl. Good that i was wrong, because this is a sweet idea. You have any other ordnance in mind? I'm thinking Fritz X always looked pretty cool.
I asked the guy who made the CoolPicker plugin for Max if he could port it over to PS, but his problem was too many hoops to jump thru to get the SDK. IIRC you have to sign up with the Adobe developer program first, which might require approval, etc.
Hey all! I need a pretty decent..(no the best) modeler so i can start working on this game I've been planing. I am already familiarizing myself with the Unity 3D editor. I just need models. Any takers? This could be good practice to novice modelers!! Thanks, Psycho INC
Hi, I'm new to using Mental Ray inside 3DS Max, and I've created a specular map for my current character, I'm not sure what the equivalent of specular is though inside of Mental Rays Arc and Design material, is it Reflection? Any one out there able to tell me where I place the specular? Thanks
