Hehe thanks guys, yeah hes probably gonna be white/grey/yellow later, it will pop better than green and orange against the warm colors. Also im thinking off keeping white as a "man-made" color. so stuff like robots, buildings, vehicles, suits, etc.
What would have driven the point home about "this is a shit ton of procedural animation" is if they skipped on voice actors and went with text-to-speech robotic voices instead. That reminds me someone tells not to put robots in portfolio (someone here at PC i guess) Also no mech is allowed on past Comicons challenge. If i remembered it correctly , the reason behind it is : because everyone will end up with optimus prime etc etc I don't get it. Mech are awesome !!
I don't know, maybe its because its more of the same which I don't mind. I've been having tonnes of fun with Dota 2 and just stopped playing shoot many robots which was really addicting with friends and loot. Also the humble bundle is always awesome.
Here's a little something I'm working on at the moment; the guardian robot from Laputa - Castle in the Sky. I'm aiming to hand-paint this to try to distance myself from the hand-holding that Substance Painter gives me when texturing, it also allows me to learn a new program in 3D Coat.
Here is the third robot I finished recently. He's one of 2 companion to Dudley. Again these aren't my renders or models or textures, those were handled by Stephen Gibson http://www.ssgibson.ca/ I did the character rigging and will hopefully have an animation of them soon to show that off better.
MTM 8 Sweeper: [March, 2013] I got inspired by MTM 8 of Black Mesa (Half-life remake mod). I transform it into sweeper for Mars mine (blue is opposite of red sky color). The robot has 20 250 triangles and 1024x1024 textures. Pictures are taken in Marmoset.
anyway, this thread shows exactly why there are so many crappy levels with a stupid ass robot running around in the most over-rated piece of crap engine out there... This is NOT something you can just practice and learn, you cannot practice what you do not have base information on.
