@Neox Hehe yeah, this bit was unfortunately a slip up coming from combining parts - but luckily enough in this specific instance there was no negative consequence on the asset. Mistakes do happen :) @Eric Chadwick : using mesh to UV could indeed be an interesting workaround - although I am not sure if a push doing the kind…
Thanks Eric for making it clear. That combining does look pretty basic there. I just want to combine maps for Substance Painter/Designer to repaint few instanced fence posts made unique and similar details without baking each one from each own hires and seems only full scale 3d package is capable for that.
Thanks for giving your opinion @Eric Chadwick I spoke at a seminar not too long ago for game developers and talent that matches the style of the project was a popular answer. Also the professionalism of the talent was popular. I found that there were a number of developers who also saw professionalism included flexibility…
@Eric Chadwick I'd spend more time listening if somebody else was talking about this. Isn't it important? I know some people might think this isn't the place for it, but you got tons of aspiring AAA artist here. I think there is no better place to make a stink about what's going on. People should at least be skeptical.
That's really cool Eric, thanks for sharing. I definitely gonna pass this to our programmer so we can try it out. Right now our lightning approach is one directional and one ambient light. And since we are building a dynamic day/night system, your approach should look better than our current.

Hi Eric, thanks for the response. This is just one of the crashes I'm having, I tried to open my 1.6 project again in 1.8 to make use of the mask painting feature. I right-clicked on a mask (not even sure why, just did) and I got this instant-crash. This is the one I seem to see a lot of in 1.8.
http://polycount.com/discussion/143914/solved-installation-issues-only-one-machine#latest Here is a previous thread I made on the subject back in the 1.8 days because I had similar issues. Guess I'll see if the fix still works with 2.0 - Eric suggests you should be able to install on 5 machines.
Thanks for the reply Eric! So i've read through most of those links and got a fair understanding. But still can't really find anyone showing this in action. Can you use mayas fluid systems on characters and import them to the engine and they keep the fluid animation? Or should i be learning the particle systems inside the…
I changed my thread title to narrow down the scope of my question (again). I want to set a broader question like Eric suggests, but I find that broader question often diverge into multiple topics, and the context is often lost, so I end up getting answers only tangentially related to my issues...
