much like gamedev says try using more asymetric light , if you build for sp, draw attention, by adding a strong light in one of those shafts. play valve games to see good lighting ! hope this paintover helps a bit, tried to stay near your initial thought (maybe its mp?)
Thanks everybody! :D So glad you like it! I hope it's helpful to people. So I got frontpaged on reddit on /r/gamedev/, and apparently that's also been named the subreddit of the day. Holy crap. So many site visits, and like 60+ new Twitter followers in the last half hour. Insane.
Yeah, but i mean classic 3d hobbyism. As in, making models and still renders or animations. Not gamedev, which is hugely popular. Hence i now feel that stills are niche compared to realtime. ...and personally i prefer Quake 1 modding scene, which still amazes me :D (check out Arcane Dimensions or func_mapjam series).
If somebody already in Van is not picky and badly needs a 3d job, there's a lot of work between feature film, vfx, and seriousgames (3d training dev at BCIT for example). Lots of small paying 3d gigs too. Time in other similar industries can still count once you get back into gamedev and haggle your pay.
Not an art video but basically what comes close to being Gamedev Economics 101 (helpful when deciding when to bail out from a studio or whether you'll stick with a winner). haha thanks guys :) GameDev: I already relocated once from Fl to WA I'll be damned if I had to do that again!:D ....now to get my cousin(roomate) a job.....anyone know any place where a producer/scripter/animator are needed or someone who can work on flash based games in WA?
anoon: I've gone down to the map level, and there doesn't seem to be a "show map in viewport" option. however, i see that option at the top of my material (the blue box). gamedev: thanks, again. these are the exact steps that i followed in the first screen grab. i also updated my video drivers...same result. not sure...…
that's pretty cool for the start :) hi-res stuff looks quite nice. I would remove the non-related experience from your cv tho, cauz unfortunately it is useless for gamedev. Good luck - u've got some good stuff going on as for a beginner guy, I wish i had that when i was starting...
http://blog.ubi.com/watch-dogs-podcast-episode-3/ Other devs have self-produced podcasts like Irrational and Blizzard (but I'm not sure if they're still currently producing episodes). If you're fav gamedev company is big and actually runs a community, check if they have podcasts or their archives if they ran one before to…
