well retopo will only take a few mins if you use your existing base to fix the hole. 'or' best to quickly export it to max, fix the hole, reimport and let zbrush automatically reproject.
this place is about boobs, gargoyle cocks, homogeneity, bandwagons, imbreeding, and a sausage fest. but there is the networking, tutorials, and the occasional peice of inspirational art. I remember it being more fun, but technology moves quickly.

I just call them 'texture maps'. Color or albedo to be more specific. The gradient isn't a unique feature or requirement of the map; it's just how the artist chose to quickly 'paint' these very simple low-poly assets rather than do anything more complex with the UVs or painting.
