Are you trying to sphericalize your mesh normals? As Eric said, a picture showing vertex normals (Max and UDK both have this option) would be helpful. I could write a quick Maxscript for you and show you how you'd do this if you'd like to know. Thanks,
@Eric Chadwick Thanks for the tips! I will post some shots with different angles and references tomorrow when I have some time after work. I'll definitely check out that lighting wiki as well. Lighting and rendering is always a challenge for me so that's a big help :)
thank you all for the answer ! and yes I'll see any arts program around where i live, there is a good 3d but it is are way to expensive for me to go, and now I'll make sure to read what Eric Chadwick sent ! thank you all very much ! ^^
looks like orionflame was causing the problem. i uninstalled it and dds's work again. thanks for the email address eric, i talked to him and he's pretty surprised this is happening. i wonder if its only an issue with max 7. i remember polyboost breaking dds's too.
Good idea Eric. Also, I just realised something. When I rescaled in AE, not only did I do that, but I also added a TV safeframe border. Doh, so no wonder I have as much of a loss in resolution as I have. what a noob.
very cool! I heard that the story is being penned by Eric Nylund, one of my favorite authors, he wrote the 2 Halo books that take place before and after the original Halo, his original works are great also, I highly recommend Signal to Noise.
DarkAlleyEthics: Hey, thanks for taking the effort to help us out with the pics. Appreciated!:) I think I could of matched the edge flow better on the arms and legs. I perhaps might not of cut into the polys on such a low poly mesh such as your second picture suggested, but would certainly keep this in mind for any other…
Yeah i had pretty much Eric Chahi's work in mind while looking at this thread. Ths guy has coded some Flash ancestor for Another World before Photoshop even exist. From 10:15 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J0gv2bV9ok4

Cheers Eric. I'm not used to the new baker yet in Maya LT so I will have to do some reading up about it. I am hoping to utilize the Suite as much as I can because the results I have seen from it are gorgeous XD
