The world position texture setup was a good idea. The way the tunnel curves off to the left was a nice touch to help breakup the symmetry of the image overall. The vertical flow of the hanging vegetation is really flattening your image though. You should push the dimensionality to make them look fuller and less linear. The…
The original CryEngine (Crysis) seemed to use a combo of alpha test and alpha blend. A shot from the demo. CryEngine 2 (Crysis Warhead, Crysis Wars) uses a deferred renderer, which allows them to smooth out the edges after they're alpha-tested. Here's an explanation along with lots of other cool info about their…
Wow, almost a year? It must have been pretty tiring. -==- Thanks again for the tips. Im doing a forest scene based on this art by Jeremy Fenske (https://www.artstation.com/artwork/ogwaW) My biggest problem is the vegetation parts (rocks, grasses, trees, etc) Here's a album with my vegetation…
Question. Can we use vegetation that we didnt create ourselves? Like simple grass and trees. Edit: Some more update. I created 6 really low poly rocks that use the same texture (1 tiling face texture, and 1 tiling edge texture). I also added some vegetation,,, I know that should come after all the main props are placed but…
Week Eighteen Day 1- I made some progress on the pine tree. Day 2- I almost finished it. Day 3- I finished the last pine tree and set it up in Unreal. Day 4- Today, I found some Meganscan plants to fill the scene. Day 5- Work Day Day 6- Rest Day Day 7- Work Day Summary: This week mainly worked on the last pine tree in…
Thank you Olingova and Fabi_G for your feedback! :) I plan to add more colorful stuffs with the vegetation later. I made the choice to keep the buildings old and desaturated to contrast with the coming climbing plants and flowers. I would put colors on doors and window frames if the result is still too much fade after…
Looks better! what you need to do though is to spherize your vertex normals of the leaves to get it so shade better also check our 3Dmotives vegetation tutorials they go through how to set up a good vegetation shader that doesn't give black backfaces. I did a little paintover on how you should approach the vertex normals…
Are you talking about the ability to procedurally place vegetation based on the terrain material? I've run into the same problem, but I didn't spend much time messing with it until I decided to just paint out my vegetation. I did notice that the issue happens with certain density levels, usually with higher densities(lower…
#11 update! Hi guys! Some more improvement. I finished the placeholder pieces, like the ones in the floor, and added extra assets for beauty and vegetation. I also did the Urn prop, but the lightmap its still a WIP, I´m still trying to figure out the way to make it look good. I used Speedtree to make the vegetation. Still…
You terrain textures are really low res. Maybe increase the tiling? Try using the conform to terrain normal tool for your vegetation. You have foliage growing out of vertical rock which you can fix with the angle masking tool under vegetation. The water doesn't really fit the scene, especially in the pool area, fiddle…
