Oh my god it worked! The ramp now works fine! And as for the dark shadows, turns out that's the half lambert. Removing it gives me the look i'm after! :D Thank you so much you are lovely! This sort of effect isn't possible in Toolbag. I would suggest a game engine like Unity or Unreal with a custom cartoon shader, or a renderer that has a built-in toon shader.
There are a couple of scripts that make bones like this, but the dummies must be point helpers and must be named using certain rules. charRigger is one http://www.comet-cartoons.com/toons/maxscript.cfm
I would make two versions of the toon shader, one with alpha blending. Swap shaders at the start of the blend. Which engine is this? We have subforum for Unreal or Unity.
