Vray RT is old tech. Go with Vray Next and a decent geforce is the way to go. Polycount doesnt matter that much. Up to 60 million unique poly is no problem with a 8gb card. If you use instances and vray proxy you dont have a polylimmit.
hey, i rendered in vray as i mentioned it before ^^ and as for the second question i will say it in my next post, i am now very busy writing reports and stuff but at in around 2 weeks i'l post everything, from the polycount to the composition in Photoshop and a time lapse of some of the modeling ^^

I've checked it in Modo and Vray and they both have the same problem. Upping polycount didn't help. I'm doing only high poly of this model so I don't think that normal maps will help too. Retriangulating invisible edges in Max and make them point in the same direction didn't help either....

The only decent trees I have found for archviz are the evermotion or dosh tree packs, they range from 60 to 100 euros if I remember correctly. Pretty good deal considering the time it saved me and how expensive the good foliage generating softwares are. I wouldnt worry about polycounts to much since you can use vray…
