Nice, it's definitely getting there. I think you could benefit from getting some stronger contrast in the overall render though. Are you using a specular/gloss map? Would be nice to see some highlights from the normal map picked up with the lighting inside marmoset. http://www.marmoset.co/toolbag/learn/character-lighting…
Good progress, @Rickpwnz . As an overall thing, I think you could benefit greatly from giving everything in yout high poly a push modifier. The edges dont really catch as much light yet as they could. If you look at the roof, you arent quite getting the same depth as in the concept. This could be part normal map\shape (did…
Hey Giles, I like the character you have here. I've seen you posting various characters on the forum, and you obviously have some skill. Your characters have interesting ideas, cool detail, and are technically sound. But I feel like they all lack a bit in the basic form. This is the same problem that I struggle with, and…
Hello! :) I think they all look great however I think cleaning them up with a few techniques would push them to a more high quality , What software did you use to make these? Caus in photoshop there is a tool called the Lasso tool /Polygonal Lasso Tool which would be perfect for cleaning up edges or defining shapes as…
Your website is extremely distracting to me. Those wire frames are no good. They hurt my eyes and my soul, especially against the white background. A quick way to do this in max is clone the object, go to material editor, click on wire frame darken the wire frame to whatever color u want. Apply the material to the new…
IV : yeah, but that is still very subjective. I personally used both Max and Maya for years at various studios, and the only reason why a studio pushed for one or the other was always for pipeline/integration reasons, and not so much for the art toolset itself. But of course this is just what I observed over the course of…
There is an offset option built into the retopo tool in the graphite modeling tools. It will push the retopo away from the surface. You can then use a push modifier with a negative value to shrink it back a bit once you're finished. You can also animate the transparency of the material that is applied to the reference…
Not a fan of the weapon but mostly because of the design, and that is something you really did not have much control over. However that being said I think the modeling could have been pushed much farther to help save an otherwise poor design. While you have some interesting shapes modeled in there you also intersected too…
Thanks so much for the feedback. I plan to do most of the engraving and surface details with normal map painting because I'm definitely not sure how I'd be able to model in that face at the top edge of the blade in high poly.... But I could try adding the skulls near the bottom of the blade and some of the larger…
Did some research after hearing the term the other day it actually kinda makes sense to have a sub genre of whats considered cyber punk. Steam punk a subset of cyber punk is design in relation to the Victorian age having robust boilers and steam engines to power mechanics. Where as diesel punk refers to design and…
