Thank you all so much :) Eric: I'll do that in the future, thanks for the advice! Shyralon, this is 100% handpainted. A shader would definitely have been cool, but since I'm planning on making this a sketchfab diorama I don't think it would be an option.
Hey Boklin, that could be me you describe... 30s, Coder, want to become character modeler/artist! :D ... welcome on the boat ... Although I have not reached my goal yet, i am sure i will! Like @Eric Chadwick said:
Thanks for the move Eric. Also now I have come across another road block; the mesh for the eyes are dark, and i can't seem to correct the tone. I've tried applying different mats and standards, masking, etc, and i'm just stuck.
Thanks Eric, it means a lot! I have since changed the UV's on the arms of the chair so that the pattern aligns properly. I thought I would do a little write up in case anyone else wanted to create a patterned material. :D
Congrats to winners! However mostly thank you r13 and whole Polycount crew for organizing this contest. I know that it wasn't easy to handle this amount of work and keep everything together! Kudos to Eric especially for his hard moderation work during this contest!
Thanks for the examples Eric. What about environment stuff(which is where I am finding the issues) it feels unnecessary, but is this an older technique used in past generation games? (just trying to figure out where this studio got it in their head to use it for everything)
Yep Eric, that's exactly what I was getting at. I also PM'ed LordScottish if he's interested in debating this, I'd love to hear which "intelligent people" truly believe in ID as a scientific theory, if they haven't been fed misinformation or distorted/outdated theories.
Thanks Eric and Xeno, I think Im going to start basic modelling with 3ds max and try and get up to scratch quickly, I know the material menu and other things will be totally new to me since blender doesnt have them!
hey thanx Eric for the tip...will ve to try it tomorrow now...but i did get over the problem today...it seems i had to set the project to my current working directory. I was not familiar to max's project feature...it worked at last... thanx :)
Awesome, thanks Eric, thats just the kinda thing i was looking for. I remember seeing that weapons thread a while back but couldnt find it for the life of me. Great pdf too, thats going in my collection. Good tips Astro, thanks.
