Thanks for the comments guys. The texture isn't quite done... The leg dots need painted and the tail dots need redone larger. Trying to stay very close to the original mounts scheme. mmmm.. A nice way to get Bronze, is a very dark reddish/brown diffuse, with a copper/yellow-ish spec. Seems like a lot of the grout and surface materials aren't really matching up IMHO. I really think the flatter/exposed areas should be cleaner, while the recessed areas are the parts that should accumulate the grout.… -

good call-- I'll do that, but so far this is all in ZBrush-- no specular except for the MatCap shader. Specular isn't something I've really messed with (last time I did they were greyscale spec maps-- now they're in color?!) . i must have sent the wrong file, because i garuntee that the bake did with the expanded envelope had no artifacts at all whatsoever, even ran it on a black blinn, high spec etc etc. I keep getting the feeling there is something up with your hardware, or software versions, because i was only able to recreate teh problem… -

Write a raytracer in UScript, or write your own renderer over DLLBind. Nah just kidding. Art direction matters hugely.
