I am super confused. All of a sudden, Marmoset does something weird with roughness channel. I am working on modular pipes. So far I created two texture sets. Steel texture set: And iron texture set: I made steel textures first in Quixel Mixer. Then I just copied the project and made some changes to color of the base metal…
Thanks for the response. Are Cellular, dent, noise, smoke, etc the 3d textures you refer to in 3ds max. I originally thought about and went with the Zbrush method you said and it gave me exactly what I was looking for. I even managed to replicate the exact detail I wanted with Noisemaker over my highpoly mesh. But once I…
Yea its definitely the trend now, as people started with really ugly stuff in the early internet days and are now going back to what counts. I suppose the guy doing the huge paragraph would have done that huge aswell if he did a 2005 glossy apple style design. Many designers using it because its the most classy, and it…
Yup, the HDRI definetely has a role. I think the default ones that come with SP/marmo are selected to have a hotspot that supplies a nice highlight. Besides the obvious stuff like color and normals, I am making use of the 'roughness' map slot for reflections in c4d, and shutting off the spec contribution all together.…
Yep I agree with Mr Rockstar, traditional art (and education to that end) is where it's at, too many places (the place I'm at included) place too much emphasis on software and technical skills, that's usually not what the industry wants or needs, since pretty much anyone can learn 3dsmax or Photoshop if they have a good…
Alright, so i'm trying to plan out a more in depth format. I hope to actually show the dates that we are planning to do each workshop here, so people can look, see if they are interested, and figure out if they have time to work on them. I've got two proposals for the next few months, and i'de like some opinions on which…
select the head apply material id 1, select body apply material id 2(not uv channel!) In Material editor Select Multi/Sub-Material apply headtexture to id 1 slot and bodytexture to id 2 slot. Apply the texture to the head and body and it should work(don´t forget to check "Show Standard Material in Viewport"
self taught as well. i've tried applying for internships at different places with little luck (maybe im not as good as i thought i was). i did manage to land a phone interview in my latest application, which i thought went well until they asked me to email them my resume. i was denied because i didnt have any team…
Depends on a lot of different things. Are you planning to apply work overseas? Can you afford university? What sort of course are you after, a broad art/design degree or a specialized one? Do you enjoy a classroom environment? Degrees are expensive but accreditation from an institute makes it easier for visa applications…
Generally, for artists positions when you see a job post that says "Art degree required" this is simply to try and filter out applications from people who have absolutely no qualifications for the job. Here is how it goes: 1. Portfolio(Skill) 2. Experience 3. Personality 4. Schooling So if you've got 2 people that have the…
