The tutorials I used when learning Maya are long gone, but for the most part the help docs are pretty solid for learning the interface. Also check out "the area" autodesks official community site, they have a lot of tutorials and self help stuff. Gnoman also has some beginner Maya DVD's from what I remember. Good luck!
yeah i would definitely try them both, you can get both of them for free with a .edu email free for 3 years as well as mudbox and xsi and all the autodesk goodies, just get in there, follow the basic tutorials that show up on the popup menu when you open the program and then kinda decide which one feels better
Thank you both very much. Would you say I'd be at a disadvantage learning Maya if I was interested in the gaming industry, instead of Max? Or are they coming closer and closer together seeing as they are both owned by Autodesk now? Could you possibly give me a few examples of games created with Maya / Max that might be…

They were made by Xoliul you can find these and other tutorials on…
Nope, very valid points. Lets give a couple examples of threads that should belong in Tech Talk. Version control system for artists Autodesk smarts T Pose ( 1 2 ) Etc, i think Mop already moved a few others, but please guys, just take a second to think "Does this belong here?" before you post.
Hmm - yeah, the people from Autodesk that I've talked with all say that Max 9 isn't officially supported on Vista yet so I imagine it's probably hit or miss depending on what type of hardware you've got, etc. You can bet, though, that they'll release a patch for it pretty soon after the release of Vista. -Ben
Ben you could probably use the Edit Normals mod, then use RTT to bake a normalmap. But Autodesk didn't really do a great job providing options in that modifier, like there's no soft-select. I think it'd be horrendous to have to rotate all those normals one by one. Hey CB that's pretty cool, I like the hatching on the globe.
dont get your hopes to high,- it seems that the feature of editing multiple objects in UVW-unwrap is messy supported - autodesk you did it again :( details in the follwing link http://area.autodesk.com/index.php/forums/viewthread/24712/ those commands in the link are essential to some align scripts that I wrote perhaps…

hello , i am about to start a high poly model of this flare gun but I am a little weary on the ( Dip shape ) on the upper part of the grip. All the other shapes I can tackle fearly well, but I am not too sure what to do with this one. I am using Autodesk Maya by the way, if anyone has diagrams or specific instructions on…
