Thank you everybody for your answers. Eric I could not post screenshots, sorry about that. I found that vertices were highlighted with the clean up tool, but that was just to indicate uv borders I suppose. -

@Eric Chadwick certainly nice to have a stable gig but i was just commenting on the setup of the office really. it's not what i would call an inspiration for interior design. ....looks more like the rower's deck on a galley :) -

Eric's post is for the rotation tool, which you'd use to rotate your geometry. If you're after the hotkey to rotate your viewport, it's alt+mmb. Hold them down as you move your mouse around. -

By the way Eric, you should really dedicated a section to the effect of DXT compression on channel packing. Which channels are compressed more/less, and how compression artifacts can bleed from one channel into the other. -
