did you paint the orange on a layer above the other layers with a layer blending option eg overlay/screen on? if you did then it will react differently according to what background it is placed on. Maybe try painting without using any layers or blending options, I find its quite a good way to learn. *edit yeah sectaurs…
Please I need help. How to update layers from 3Do? In dDo I\m creating Smart Materials, then I flatten em. - Adding Color Paint Layer - in 3Do Editing Color Layer, Brushes etc, everything is fine - But if I'm closing 3Do window, no changes applied to that Paint Layer I created and all paintings I made earlier is gone. Hi, I've been working with the 2.31 trail version. When I work with the paint layer, the program is not updating the layers after press the toggle color paint mode. after come back again to the painting mode the data is there, also I've noticed once the paint mode is active changes the blending mode from group of layers…
If you're working with a texture project yes, there are a couple of ways: * When you set up the project, remove the roughness map and add a gloss map in the project maps section. Gloss is inverted roughness/the same thing as smoothness and you can work directly in this value system (materials from the library will…
@ichidan i will have to track back on that, the project is already archived. but i need to check inside the painter file. its definitely a mix of various maps like AO, the brush strokes, the up-vector from the world space normalmap and such. this is the basic setup in painter white * upvector from painterly layer *…

Hey guys. I have a quick question for you guys. My substance designer appears to be painting very slowly. Each time I attempt to make a brush stroke, I receive a few seconds of lag. If I make enough strokes then all of the strokes eventually start showing up in due time. Normally when this happends there could be two…
Completely true. It's funny, artists are so used to saying use reference for anatomy, mechanicals or environments but people forget that step when making materials, it's extremely important to be able to breakdown what you're seeing and try to replicate that instead of working off how you 'think' a material looks or reacts…
I have a tutorial I wrote on Vector Rendering for Maya actually, let me dig it up for you. You can render out swf's from Maya Vector, still frames or animations, and import them as whatever layers you need. For example: You can render out an attack animation with different weapons and import it as different layers. 1 Layer…
Works fine here, I was only able to get "The command 'copy' is not currently available" by trying to run the script with multiple layers selected. It works on a group but you just get a white layer as a result. It (unsurprisingly) doesn't work on text or shape layers, but doing so deletes all layers, just a heads up on…
