50? 50? no... no..... no id say that could be done visually loss less at 4k with a bit of reworking, but that with little to none could be dropped at least 750 with out any harm. I still get the odd email asking my to make models/textures for people - for mods or for personal use (people still play quake) I simply reply stating that a model will cost £500 untextured, £750 textured, and texturing an existing model will be £300. 99% of the time I get an incredulous reply along the lines of "WTF!!!111…
Good visuals mean that the game is being properly communicated to the user. "Properly communicated" means you can see what you need to see. It doesn't mean 50000 poly characters with normalmaps and 750 line material shaders.
