I'm fairly experienced with using 3Ds Max and I know that ZBrush is an industry standard. I've got a potential job opportunity coming up in 3 months or so and it requires knowing ZBrush. Where do I start? Is a tablet required? What are some excellent beginner tutorials? Any help appreciated.
Not yet, I ran into some driver issues with my tablet and pressure sensitivity in photoshop, so I decided to hash out the portrait and go from there. Next step is silhouettes I think, then some sketches and a turnaround. Die Antwoord Fan are we? =D
In the beginning I tried to sculpt wooden parts in ZBrush, but result was really bad. I dont know how to achieve clear and straight lines while sculpting. (And I dont have tablet). The result was similar to your Drake Shield, but worse.
Went as i felt like it, from start to end. Added shapes that I felt were fitting, lighting that I felt worked etc etc. All in all, a 40 minute exercise, just to warm me up to good ol' photoshop + tablet
Great work, nice sculpts and the detail level is really solid for a mobile / tablet game. You managed to stick to large and medium details well to create something atheistically pleasing on a smaller screen without going over the top. It's quite easy to overdo these things.
Consumption of marmite tends to dim the intelligence, as witnessed :P The tweaks to the displacement painting should be nice, I hope they fix mouse issues too and allow for a keyboard hotkey to control brush size/strength (I don't have a MMB on my tablet pen ).
If you have a wacom tablet that supports rotation you should be able to do this just by setting the 'foreground/background jitter' setting to 'rotation' under 'colour dynamics' in the brush editor. However I can't test it because I've only got a graphire on this computer.
Ditto, after being so used to Maya and Mud navigation, I briefly popped back to Max on one occasion and it seemed to counter intuitive and archaic. I don't know how I tolerated it before. Especially since I use the tablet for everything.
I never had an issue with the face-editor in Oblivion. Then again, I made my faces in the editor, using a tablet, with high-quality textures and custom races, so I can't really say anything about people who play the game stock.
