Allen McKay has some good tutorials on using PFlow in Max. They're a few years old but they hold up really well and teach you the basics. http://vfxsolution.com/allanmckay/2009/11/legacy-fx-tutorials/

It's obvious that you're using the old duplicate mesh, invert normals trick to get the outline. But there are some problem areas where you need to correct the face positions on the inverted neck, for example around the neck line, and the clasps holding his cloak in place.
Got a bit more done.. It's still a bit boring so i might add some old molded leather straps around the blade and the corrupted part to make it a bit more interesting. Also i'll do a colour pass as it's pretty desaturated.
I really dig the design of this character's head, he reminds me of a combination of the badassery of American wherewolf in London combined with Disney's old big bad wolf cartoon. im looking forward to seeing how this character will pose with his odd legs.
