The nasty on the chest looks like a case of pixel density/fidelity. If you increased your texture size, or the size of that UV island, that problem would diminish. I think personally I would remove the scar on the nose, as it just makes the face a bit hard to read, especially from the angle of that beauty render. American doctors refuse to do it, because it can lead to a serious eye infection and blindness because when something is caught in the eye, the eye trys to push it out. you actually have a pretty damn good start...the reason your getting those weird shadows is because of your smoothing groups...im not sure what program your using but hopefully you know how to adjust these...basically what I do is select all your poly's and turn them to a full 180 degree smooth...after that go to area's… -

The hard edges on your toilet make it feel a lot less believable. I've yet to see a toilet ever have a hard angle like that. farcry was around before doom3, and used normalmaps, there were probably other games before farcry too, but farcry looked a hell of a loot better than doom 3 did. i have to agree about quake wars, and yes, rage does look good at the moment, BUT, there always seems to be another developer who can trump ID recently.… -

Nah , I don't think the 'extra effort' art quality is really noticed. I think extra art direction across character/ambient/environment/hud is noticed, consistent artstyle's that have continuity and tie together well are noticed. I don't think people are savvy enough to notice that theres better art quality on an individual… -
