Hello everyone, I'm reaching out to discuss a highly technical topic today. It's about the incredibly realistic animations in the upcoming game ILL. I don’t know how many of you have seen the trailer recently, but the way the creatures look like they have actual fleshy skin and their natural posing really caught my eye.…
Thanks for the post but that isn't exactly what I need to do. I don't know if the way I explained it was weird, but I have 25 sub tools in my scene of various junk and rubble. I want to make a tileable texture using the draw mode in a Document and dragging individual ztools into place. I don't think it will let you use…
I always did this type of rounded bevel with the spin tool in Blender. I've also been looking for the equivalent in Maya but so far the closest I've come across is 'edit mesh > wedge'. I hate that it's the one tool you have to be in multi mode to use, also you have to delete the extra faces afterwards :/
First wrong assumption that you are making is that it need to compete with Max/Maya/Modo/Whatever. It doesn't have to. It may complement each of those applications. There is a Houdini, and there is a Houdini Engine. Most of you would need only Houdini Engine. You are not the type of guys who build tools, so what you would…
Another thing that bugs me is the speed of innovation. When comparing it to the games industry especially. Just as a example Crytec.. reasonably small company, can build a complete engine full of innovation in about 2 years. Now Autodesk starting with an already reasonably stable base. Took years to even implement normal…
XSI doesn't have much in the way of modeling tools but I find the limited set it does have highly effective for a lot of tasks. I'm less picky about having a lot of cool modeling tools these days though, after using just about every modeler under the sun, and more interested in the core, most useful tools just working…
Cool. Yeah, I can do some rigging. I first learnt in Blender, though that was some time ago now. I've forgotten how to use Blender. :# I've spent the past 4 years or so getting to grips with 3ds Max and Maya, but I do aim to re-learn Blender as it does have some very cool and useful tools. Each package has its own pros…
Greg Westphal: I'm talking about final concepts explicitly made for asset creation. I'm not talking about idea exploration, which is ideal to use quick idea-generating tools and explorative methods. Those two things are mutually exclusive and are different parts of the concept pipeline. We all should know that. Photo…
I'm a long-time Modo user (since 301), but I didn't upgrade to 701 and therefore, haven't jumped on the MeshFusion train. I think the tech is super-cool and would love to use it, but I probably won't and it has nothing to do with the technology (which I think is awesome). My only real hesitation in cracking open the wallet…
