Here is the final picture! :) only changed a couple small things from the last update. I was hoping to show when he begins to become a creature of magic and is using his badass powers. Hope everyone likes it!
Thanks for the comments! The Carpet Material is basically the carpet Material from the Realistic rendering Demo from Epic. I modified it a bit to support color and then painted some masks. But there is really no magic going on, just a looooot of tweaking.
Oh my god, I understand normal maps. Thank you EQ. Up until this point whenever something went terribly wrong (and it happened often) I just shrugged and said that magic is never perfect.
Here's a poleaxe concept that I have been working on... Unfortunately I have no idea how to make some kind of magic animations that would represent some ethereal force holding the blades... hope someone likes it ...
the new magic wand thingie is kinda cool some times but normally i just add a very colorful layer beneath what needs to be extracted and use a layermask to erase what i don't want to see
In 2012, this happens when your mesh does not have any smoothing groups. Apply one smoothing group per face and watch the magic happen! Or, apply a single smoothing group to the entire mesh and have it smoothed.
Yeah the details are just from a bump map I have applied to the model after some UVW box mapping. The welds are a bump I created applied to a strip of polys and the signatures are on a plane with a translucent texture. MAGIC
BSP tuning will help your speed, but it won't solve crashes. Mental ray fatal errors seem to be dark voodoo magic more than anything else. Export to a new scene, restart the computer and sacrifice a goat.
Yes I was talking about blockouts - you are right. And a solution for really bad post boolean topology to be magically converted to something that looks like a highpoly. We can say that by highpoly look I mean exactly adding bevels to hardedges in the mesh.
Update Time! Random sketches - maybe I could turn some into simple characters for loops or a game Recently got around to look through things I worked on during my last employment and put things on my portfolio. Loved working on spider creatures. Other than that, I started with the magic hall environment for the bi-monthly…
