Ha ha, what the hell was in the damn brief case?! Must have been a dick tank. Reduced the clouds, tweaked the high lights, painted in some AO and moving on to other statics for now. I've got almost the rest of the scene blocked out but for now just a close up.
Nice darleks. I think your hard surface modeling and texturing could be better. I guess Daleks fall between tanks and guns so I would check out those types of threads for direction: http://www.polycount.com/forum/showthread.php?t=56014 http://joeystruve.daportfolio.com/
The design sketch you're going with looks cool to me. One thing that comes to mind since you're relating this to Samus, is that she and her suit are very agile. This suit looks very heavy, like a half tank suit. I'm interested to see where you take this though ;)
I cannot think of the last game that had a fat main character, especially if you are not counting games with "tank" roles. Witcher 2 and 3 might be the only games I can think of with good npc body type variety and it handles weight realistically, even with the background characters.
I realized that you have a problem with the mirrored letters on the left side of the tank. Maybe add them as Decals instead of putting them right at the color-map. It will create a fes verts and one map more, but you could still mirror the base UV and get the text right.
Steam is becoming like the Apple app store ... it's too large, so it's almost impossible to get noticed. We can pretend that all the good games will rise to the top but that won't happen every time. Gems WILL tank for no reason other than lack of visibility, lost in a cloud of crap.
Yeah you really lost the face and the feel of the vehicle. Your changes definitely hurt the aesthetic of the vehicle. It's no longer chunky, not as much of a tank. When using a concept, I feel the most important thing is capturing the aesthetic and design ideas, and not matching the shapes 1:1 like a blueprint.
late and quick sketch to nail down an idea... brain dump/ref. list: furnace rust/brushed fire damage crane/claw pipes/cables/chains sewers/leaks/oil scrap metal (sparks ?) recycling tank tracks/old tires Thanks and good luck everyone!
Awesome vid Jerc :) Very cool the effects Cool tank is the work of derGoldstein @ BlenderArtist and offered on blendswap. I used to just to try and get around the interface. I'm sure I'm not setting it up right or material id's or... Truth be Told.... (I know not, what I do) (
