I was really eager to see the new character creation screen, but I have to say I am very disappointed by its presentation. The soldier is stuck in that far side of the layout, not spinning nicely (it takes multiple mouse drags to make it fully spin around itself), there is no way to zoom, and so on. And while the gear is…
She looks like a jelly fish, cool design, so what i would try to do is make a translucent material (shiny version of her) then the opaque version of her (faded version) under the shiny part, so you'd have to versions of her, one inside (flipped faces / scale it down a touch ) one outside (normals facing the correct…
Hello! I don't have harsh words but hopefully I have useful a critique. You're showing an ortho view of the sculpt. Did you also sculpt in ortho? This can be very challenging and look wrong once you switch to the target focal length in perspective. When working from references look up "focal length portrait" to get a sense…
this is question thread but will update with my findings as I go problem is that i try to make sure that dark skin type faces remain legible. with unreals default tone mapping if you are any darker than light-skinned it becomes difficult to read faces. the low values just seem too dark. In Maya if i set tone mapper to Log…
I always did this type of rounded bevel with the spin tool in Blender. I've also been looking for the equivalent in Maya but so far the closest I've come across is 'edit mesh > wedge'. I hate that it's the one tool you have to be in multi mode to use, also you have to delete the extra faces afterwards :/
hey guys sorry for the laaaaate update!!! Thanks a lot. Well actually I am doing some very low res props for a "fake" gps navigator to be used in a theater simulation journey... is for an augment reality project (documentary) a client is doing on a theater. And basically I was tasked to build low res props like and old…
Good points. I think you're overthinking it though. I've looked at builds on an iPhone using this system and there's no way you could tell they don't lay flat...just too darned tiny on the screen. The issue of not fading out isn't jarring at all really. You'd have to see a build on a mobile device to see what I mean. If…
I'm having a hard time understanding how certain steps work when importing objects into ZBrush and how it detects changes made, and what options it gives me upon detecting those changes. What I would like to achieve is this: Create mirrored UVs for my lowest retopo'ed subdiv after I already detailed the highest subdiv…
Hi, well at first I have to say that I really admire your work, it's really playful and creative and affects my imagination/fantasy in a very pleasing way.. It's really a kind of complicated task for us to criticise your stuff, especially for myself, since I'm nowhere near your skill-level and it's a kind of blasphemic…
Hey, good job completing a character! Overall, technically this is a pretty good piece, but a few things struck me when I compared it to the concept. - The pose is super static. Almost looks like you haven't rigged the hands... - Styles are kind of mixed up. The concept was kind of more realistic, strangely, but your…
