Thanks guys! Here is a bit of progress on the mist walkers... I decided to go for the sharkies, I think it should fit better with the story I want to tell and the abilities I imagine for Yorick! (sorry angler fish, your name will long be remembered!) And I also did some color test!
I'm starting off a with a idea to have this scary ass feind thing with this little gremlin (a la Darkness style) riding on top for comic relief. so far the walker i started a new post if anyone cares to give their Critique and any ideas that would make it really stand out. Danke
Oh, I'm sorry, totally forgot about that. It is a wahammer 40k dreadnought. A walker-tank that can carry a wide array of weaponry. Here is one of the pictures I use for reference. It is also available as a miniature for a board game called 'warhammer 40k'. I own one of these miniatures and also use it as reference.
Very cool. One game I can think of that *might* be using something similar is MGS Peace Walker. The final assets are not normalmapped, but they do show some similarities to what you are getting here. The video linked below is of awful quality, but I think you'll see what I mean -
so what are you saying I should do. is there a tutorial on doing in that way? or am I just gonna have to play around and figure it out I'm trying to get my tiles as good as Jordan Walker's are on his bath house. I know it's gonna take practice but that's what I'm aiming for.
finally played this... hot damn I'm sold. Fuckin A! and one of the best mech walker experiences in a videogame.. damn those missiles are sweet, streams of lead death.. feels like you're the tank from ghost in the shell, and all the soldiers are trying to hide behind stuff you just blast to smithereens.. Hey i wanted to see the Jordan Walkers Bath House scene in udk but when i wanted to change the render mode to directX 11 it never does! it just restarts udk in directX 9 is it me ho is doing something wrong or...? Thanks Ps. my Graphics Card is an NVidia Geforce 480 card, so it should handle DirectX 11 fine!
I have to say HP that the only one who even comes close to making UDK levels as sexy as yours is Jordan Walker and he's sort of cheating since he works for Epic :P My god this is amazing! PK, your work is fantastic too so seeing the two of you collaborate on a project is awe inspiring!
... I wouldn't doubt that's in-game, the first game didn't look any worse than that...but these are obviously glamor shots, not just taken willy nilly during a demo playthru. I'm assuming the ice aliens will make a return and it will be nice to see the walkers pounding thru the urban environments, altho they're not as fun…
