thanks for the very usefull responses guys. I indeed had a very big big modifier stack on my leafs: several bend and ffd3x3 modifiers etc. I will keep in mind to collapse the modifiers ! @Mark Dygert , wow man I would love to have such a script. And you made me bind shift + s =P
What do you think Modo is missing? I'll throw deformation cages in to get the list started. Why we can't FFD in Modo is beyond me ... But to be fair, I think for everything Modo is missing, you can point to something that it has that Max/Maya doesn't. So every app is (or should be) evolving. No app is the perfect animal…
YES! Quick question - how hard was it for codies to get their head out of the fireworks! and "RADICAL!" sand that they'd been taking the Dirt series down and get back to their roots making the new dirt game? Was there much internal fighting/debates about doing a pc rally game with a bit more 'sim' physics (less casul…
First time ever doing a proper environment, and i'm already a bit late to the game, made a tiny notch of progress today trying to understand the best way to get some decent curvature in that Dome, and the best I could come up with is this... The shape in the background is the original Cylinder I shaped it from, I applied…
for me it really depends on the model sometimes i'll just dynamesh and polish the shit out the mesh. Other times I add extra support loops for keeping the shape I want. And for a lot of hardsurface stuff I just do everything in zbrush and maybe ffd it later in maya.
Thanks for all the comments and feedback! i haven't go a lot of time to work on the textures this few days but here is a bit of progress. The wood texture isn't finished yet, i was planning on bumping the colors a bit. I flipped the UV's to make less repetition on the texture! (but i'll do a last big eddit when i'm done…
honestly i have barely any problems with the max default toolset. as a hard surface modeler quad chamfer would indeed make my life much easier, but now that i have max set up the way i want it, i can produce clean subd meshes quickly using just the default max 2009 toolset. so i agree with the rest. if you are going to…
Thank you! I've just realized I didn't post any pictures of the modularity. The goal is to allow buyers to have as much freedom as possible - both in term of ambiance and shapes. Here's an example of the modular pieces available: http://i.imgur.com/FFgqAuo.png The same goes for the background. The basalt cliffs has been…
i just noticed that... except i didn't play ff8, I noticed it now from Evoland, they had the reference in there with a small card game. still loving the card art.
