[ QUOTE ] although take a step back guys. should minors really be playing violent games? [/ QUOTE ]I don't believe age really has much bearing over whether or not someone is mentally stable enough to play violent video games. Should six and seven year olds be playing Grand Theft Auto? Most certainly not, but the same can't…
Hi guys, not sure where else this could be posted, so here it is. I created this guide for my students last year, and they seem to really engage with it. It's meant to be a quick (albeit 71 pages) tour of some principles of high-poly modeling and the process of baking simple normal maps using 3Ds Max. Do you guys think…
Hello Polycount! My name is Tim and I'm a character artist with +4 years of experience working for AAA games and right now I\m looking for freelance work. Some of the projects I've worked for are Overwatch, Hyper Scape, Monster hunter Worlds, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare(2019). For more images, you can check my portfolio:…
I did think of adding normals for the wear and tear, but like you said, it's quite unrealistic, so when it comes to texturing I find it difficult to be subtle, I need to learn :P But I hear a lot of no-no's when it comes to doing normals from photo textures, and there's so many methods of doing things I end up a little…
the wear and tear on the cross beams looks upside down, it looks like damage done by leaking water over time which defies gravity :P too many skids imo, show some of the track and break 1 or 2 skids or have them missing a board or two looks good so far, nice to see it slowly coming to life
that came out pretty damn good man, my first fully professional paid asset was a couple of old books :) One suggestion: add some more physical wear and tear to the cover. Lighten up the material around the spine, edges and corners to show where it's had more contact over the years and maybe lost a couple layers of material…
Thanks Kosh3d ! Yes you're right. Maybe I should just polish the texturing and just add a little bit more uniqueness in wear and tear. I think the flatness feeling I get is more related to the quite basic geometry I have and a slight lack of primary shapes.
In my late teens and early 20s i got really into 3d modeling and was using lightwave 3d. my career has instead taken me back to my illustration roots and i havent used lightwave in at least 10 years. i'm interested in picking up 3d again for fun and make some items for dota2. So im wondering where is a good place to start?…
The community for Gears of War PC is very small and I am in need of more feedback. I have provided Youtube playthroughs for the 3 main maps I want feedback on. Higher quality full length versions are also available to download through filefront. (Cuts were made to fit inside Youtube's 10 minute limit). Thank you for your…
No beans.. I see what you are saying about it being grayed out, but I turned Light Tracer off, added a new light and ensured that box was checked, then enabled Light Tracer again to no avail... Just renders the ray misses and then solid black. I've been tearing away at issues with baking this damn thing all day haha I need…
