I gave up on doing real world weapons as the weapon nerds are too much too take. You're off to a good start, keep at it! It sounds like you have a hint of weapon dork in your blood so you should fair pretty well.

Let me guess, you downloaded the files and imported the "weapon" mesh, but when you import the "weapon" slot, you get it like this? Notice the left hand is empty? Weapon mesh is actually offhand and vice-versa, Volvo messed up the files.
