I use 3DC -- the results may not be as slick as Zbrush, but I like that I don't have to waste time with import/export, and can sculpt/retopo/UV/bake/texture from zero to finished asset in one go. -

Personally never had any problems with texturing in Mudbox, always seemed to work nicely. I would love to see an update where the painting tools rivaled Mud or 3DC, not sure how they'd go about it but very interested to see :O -
Re: 3D coat limitations versus Zbrush?
3dc has been really janky in the past (and still gives me lots of frustrating problems), so its probably where zbrush was maybe 5+ years ago. I use it for retopo, quick UVs and some painting but don't have time or inclination to learn the whole sculpting side of things. -
When will Polycount Models be up again?
New around here, but looking forward to learning all I can. Question for Polycount - When will the Models section be accessible again, and will it contain MDLs useable in 3DGS A5? I remember viewing some a while back, but don't have A6 yet. Any ideas? Thanx! Dltanner99 -

But they do exactly the same thing :? It's only the interface and shortcuts that change. Although I guess as you mentioned, the problem are the clients and workplace, if they don't use anything else other then Max, CAD, etc, then using XSI, Maya, 3DC, etc will be out of place, which is unfortunate to say the least and… -

3D Coat is what I use, seams to do a good job of it! Mudbox as well, but if you're talking price value I would definitely go with 3DC. Uhm....viewport canvas if you're using Max I guess, but I heard its functionality is pretty crappy. Also Bodypaint but that's fairly old now. -

+1 TheGabmeister. If you need the hard surface model to conform to a figure Mic Pav is a great resource. You can sculpt in Blender but I dont think it has the tools for a quick solution. There is also 3DCoat and then a few free alternatives but I think ZB and 3DC are your best bet. Tutorials on these apps are all over the…
