'its hard to convay a thought on the internet' too true. I think even if you did bullet points of your thoughts, people still can read it how they want. Re the jew down the well thing I think its a bit border line, but but again I think its designed to be a little shocking to the average viewer
Yeah kot I think that might be hapenening cause its doing edge padding at render time, but Im not sure. When using dialation it will automatically stop padding once it hits another border. And I was mostly talking about baking vertex colors for the diffuse with my comment. But you could have detail normal overlays or…
Just like r_fletch_r sayd :) Try to export to .obj and import it back. I had the same problem on max 2009, win 7. Also, sometimes you can try reset xform and convert to poly. Hope this helps! p.s. Select borders ann hit ctrl-a so you can see if you have any holes in mesh.
Awesome. Now they want to take money out of my pocket too. This shit was frustrating to have to watch from across the border as it is but I'll be fucking pissed if our government hands them a dime. I know one thing for certain though. If canada does give them a single loonie I'll never buy one of their cars again.
For my firts normalmapped model, I also mirrored half of the model. In the 3dsmax6 viewport it had a seam. So I painted a small strip of light blue(127,127,255) along the border. Found this solution here: http://www.monitorstudios.com/bcloward/tutorials_normal_maps12.html The seams were gone in 3dsmax, so I guess it should…
Hey nice work so far :) but the damage on the back side of your seat looks a bit unrealistic. In real it would be a much deeper hole, so i would add a supporting border to your normalmap, maybe by directly baking from sculpted highpoly. Keep up the good work, cant wait to see final results here!
you can still straighten the UV even if it has holes in it. I am not familiar with the program you are using there. In maya I would grab the border UV's, align them straight, pin them, and then optimize the mesh until it's all even. You could even do it manually by hand using soft select and transform tools, if you had to.
In the service pack 2 for Max 9 there is a fix for Vista that disables the Aero glass theme while max is running, then reinstates it after... there are tons of viewport glitches i guess in max while the aero window border theme is active. I notice that Win 7 has this theme as sort of a default, is anyone experiencing…
From what I understood of the SO trim technique, seams would only happen when not doing it properly. Take a look at the slides further into the presentation. They have extra padding around the borders, all at a perfect 45 degree angle. Yours looks like it has no padding, butting up against the very different normals of the…
Layer strips more efficiently but yeah I just transfer the normals from a really rough sketch of the torso into the hair like you said. It helps if your hair strip does not suddenly "stop" but fades at the borders until it goes full transparent close to the edge (either by making hair more scarce or by actual gradient).…
