I like the layout of the site. But if I was looking to hire someone... who is Pixelgent ? the main title and thing that stands out is your handle/screen name. Why not make it your real name? I know its your super duper cool online identity and all. I did the same thing on my site, but changed it to my actual name since its…
@iam717 You probably dodged a bullet by not getting hired by those guys. My last job had a boss who kept changing the projects direction to where every freakin week I was doing concept art for something new and his assistant kept rewriting game docs. She must've spent days on that stuff considering how many pages of…
Generally speaking if the work is worth doing, it's worth getting paid for. Though how you respond to this situation probably depends on a number of factors and I'm not sure there's enough information here to give the best advice. Is it contracted work? Are you a full-time hourly employee? Are you on a salary? Are you…
Sure, it happens. We have a 3 month training system, to get new hires up to speed. It's not a common thing in game dev, but we need it for our purposes. We "graduate" about 95% at the end. Anyhow, yes some people just don't cut it. And you try to find this out as far in advance as you can. But nothing is final. Why do you…
Environment work is more typically done with proprietary systems and tools for a given game. For example, Unreal's use of terrain, structures and static meshes is probably very different from the BF2 engine's use of similar tech. Lighting systems can get very complex. It's hard to just create an environment for a game…
As many others, i find the intuitive workflow of zbrush very appealing. But as many others, who are used to standard 3d packages, i am a little confused by some nuts and bolts in zbrush. Please share your wisdom! -How do i select and edit an object that has been deselected? -Is it possible to select a part of the mesh, and…
Thanks for the feedback, however in this instance, I think I will push on with this as it is, and go back to Frank Tzeng's tutorial on my next realism attempt and really try to nail whatever I make with the medium forms. I do see what you mean though, and I agree. I actually started this model just under a year ago and I…
Sometimes when I'm using the art tablet, I put my left ancle on my right knee building sort of a table with my leg. Never gotten into the whole thigh on thigh action, it always felt wrong. I worked with a guy that would do the thigh/thigh leg cross thing and bounce the upper foot. He wasn't a skinny guy by any means and…
Since the workshop was flooded with korean culture related items why not explore some other cultures? Personally I didn't like that amount of asian stuff in there eventough some were really well made but considering the diversity in cultures out there I might say why not? This could work multiple ways: either go for any…
Well. Looks like it same shader there . What's different is "low" 4 spp vs "Ultra" 255 spp . My guess spp is samples per pixel. Not sure I still understand why it produces so drastically different shine . And why at all it should be based on number of samples in real time shader.
