@obloquy It depends entirely on your budget. Substance especially loves large amounts of vram, so ideally you'd want something with 12GB or more. The 4070 for $600 has 12GB of vram and is about twice as fast as your 1080. The Geforce 4090 w/24GB of vram is the king atm, but it also costs a kings ransom ($1600 minimum).…
What kind of secondary reflection is better for such type of material? "newton rings" or maybe "mirror"? When i apply this effect i should tweak reflection and roghness again. :( Anyway i should do something with its specularity. Forgot to remove newton rings from black areas. Waiting for your ideas.
Small update here :) After some feedback, I have pushed the damage more with some decals and got rid of the grey vertex paint layer. After looking at more references of these kinds of buildings, I noticed more major damages where you can see the concrete mix underneath to be towards the base and revealing more of what's…
You need a few more edge loops in the wing to smooth stuff out when you animate it. You are turning the wing tip at 90 degrees to the rest of the structure, so with that extreme a bend stuff will get kinked, try to adjust it along the z axis some, so that it doesn't fold onto itself as much.
I love Ben Mathis's site, every time I have a question I will check there first. [ QUOTE ] 1) Everything does NOT need to be one continuous mesh. [/ QUOTE ] I guess it has kinda stuck in my head to extrude everything rather than to combine. From now on that will probably change. [ QUOTE ] 2) Too many polys where it doesn't…
This is a great idea, as I often struggle with pricing. I think my most recent commission would probably fit fairly within the kind of budget that this quick app outlines, however I would like an option to exclude a "level". You see, I'm a character artist and I would not feel comfortable charging someone for an entire…
its a small thing, but you might want to give the bird wings another pass. the feathers don't look right keep in mind that bird's wings have anatomy similar to the human arm dunno how much you care, but its the kind of anatomical flaw that distracts from your work's overall presentation :confounded:
Hi. I'm using Maya 2020 and having a few struggles with the quad draw....when i draw big polys say for the back or torso, or arms and legs i seem to be able to move the points around pretty freely to resize/reposition the quads how i want and relaxing the quads seems to work fine. But on the face, where the polygons are…
I like the hooves better in all honesty, though to mee it seems like they are just hinged. If anything, looking at Diggers or JCB's you can see that anything that is hinged has some kind if piston in them to drive it. Maybe consider some tech or possibly even a piston to add some structure and reasoning behind the movement…
I am sure this is very basic but I looked through the Material Compendium and although it is helpful in definning what the nodes do it is not very helpful in describing there common use applications. What I want is a ring of light to travel up a cylindrical mesh and then disappear. like a teleporter emitting a ring of…
