I would love to but but but Quicktime is broke, and apple is retarded. That, and if I get the WMV version from IGN i have to do so....through a fucking QUICKTIME MENU
They must have done something to them. I just looked at the info quicktime gave me under movie info. All the files that are on the dvd are in quicktime format. Alex
You should be using H.264 if you're using QuickTime. Tutorial here: http://www.apple.com/quicktime/pro/tutorials.html To get comparable results with Sorenson you need to buy the Sorenson Pro version.
To play real and quicktime you'll need codec packs: Real Alternative Quicktime Alternative I believe the MPC guy decided not to bundle the codecs with MPC for legal reason. Or maybe it was just to keep the size of the download down.
I remember Quicktime had some codecs for solid colors, which compressed them really well, but you'd be stuck with Quicktime. When using H264 have you tried a variable bitrate (VBR) vs a fixed bitrate?
.mov IS the way to go, as divx or xvid requires you to have the codecs installed. EVERYONE in a games studio will probably have them, but they will certainly have Quicktime installed. The last 2 places I have worked prefer quicktime.
HOw about iTunes taking over my quicktime. So now all my quicktime files try to open in a little fucking square at the bottom of iTunes. It's a controlling, unnecessary, program. There is no need for it other than Apple requires it.
[ QUOTE ] Course I wish that apple would get a clue and allow people to dl quicktime without their damn Itunes, but cest la vie eh? Big company bloatware. [/ QUOTE ] Standalone Quicktime! It's there, just very well hidden.
Try youtube. http://www.google.com/support/youtube/bin/answer.py?answer=57788 I prefer QuickTime, but you'll need QuickTime Pro ($30) to make it progressive d/l so it starts playing before finishing the d/l.
Thanks for the tips! As for the reel. Quicktime with h.264 was the only way I found to get my reel a tiny size without killing detail. I planned on have AVI's avaliable but couldn't figure out a good widespread codec that would do the same with the quicktime. Any thoughts on that?
